Romeo and Juliet, being young and impulsive, constantly
mention suicide or death throughout the play in regards to their love for each other or
not getting their way when it comes to being able to be together. Each time they mention
that they want to die, it is an example of foreshadowing. Each mention of death or harm
to themselves foreshadows their eventual death at the end of the play. One example of
this occurs at the end of Act I, Scene 5. At this point in the play, Romeo and Juliet
have met and fallen in love at the Capulet party. However, when they met and fell in
love, Romeo had no idea Juliet was a Capulet and Juliet had no idea Romeo was a
Montague. Romeo has just found out from the Nurse that Juliet is a Capulet and Juliet is
awating news from the Nurse as to who Romeo is. As she waits for the Nurse's return, she
says to herself "If he be married, / My grave is like to be my wedding bed." She's
basically saying if Romeo is already taken and she can't have him, she will marry death
instead (kill herself).

Where in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet do Romeo and Juliet say they will die if they do not have each other's love?
