Is gender equality evident in the 21 century?

Undoubtedly, you will get some very good insights and
thoughts into the topic, but the actual composition of the paper is going to fall on
your broad shoulders.  In my mind, I think that we are probably closer to gender
equality now than in any other time in our history.  There are more opportunities that
are present for both genders at this point than before.  However, there are some
obstacles towards gender equality that are still present.  Women and men are still
compensated at different rates for similar or same work.  Additionally, women are still
not in the positions of political power as men are.  The idea of broadening out feminist
struggles to a worldwide perspective is something that will definitely assist in gender
equality, as there are some areas of the world where women are still fundamentally
oppressed and denied basic entitlements as human beings due to social conditions.  In
the end, I do believe that progress is being made towards gender equality and while
impressive distance in this light has been traveled, more is
needed.
