What countries were fighting for and against France between 1792 and 1815?

These years encompass the French Revolution and the
resulting Napoleonic Wars, in which the French were militarily engaged with many
different European countries. Inspired by the American Revolution, in which the French
joined with the colonies against Great Britain, the French Revolution began in the
late 1780s.

  • FRENCH FIRST REPUBLIC (1792-1804).
Prior to the rise of Napoleon, France warred with Austria and Prussia as well as the
British (primarily in Egypt and Ireland).

  • FIRST FRENCH
EMPIRE (1804-1815).  Napoleon's reign achieved vast empires over most of Europe.
Although Russia and Prussia were one-time allies, Napoleon's disastrous invasion of
Russia led to his downfall. French allies included Poland, Italy, Holland, Denmark,
Norway and most of the German states. French opposition came from Great Britain and its
allies: Austria, Russia, Prussia, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Holland and a few smaller
    nations.
