What advantages are there to digital photography over "film" photography?

I took a photography class in high school expecting for it
to be a very easy class. However, little did I know, there was a very meticulous process
to the whole thing. Of course, we couldn't use digital photography, since we were a
beginner's class, therefore, we had to use film and the box cameras. Film photography
takes a while to develop because of the fixer, the developer, the stopper, the wash. The
entire chemical process can take up to 30 minutes and we weren't sure if what we caught
on camera was going to be seen or not. However, with digital photography, you can adjust
the aperture and focus on your subject clearly. The photo can be transferred from camera
to computer and printed out easily. It can also be edited on programs such as Photoshop
or Gimp.
