Opinions on this topic are very similar to opinions
on the impacts of globalization.  One can argue that transnational corporations (and
globalization) bring economic development to poorer countries.  They allow people in
those countries to have better opportunities than they would have if they could only
work for companies based in their countries.  On the other hand, one can argue that
transnational corporations take over a country and dominate it in ways that are meant to
help the firm rather than the company.  One could say that companies based in a country
are more likely to care about the fate of that country and its
people.
